"The Policy Department seeks a Policy Analyst to assist the Director of Policy regarding the support of OPTN Committees in their development, implementation, and post-implementation evaluation of national transplantation policies. Four-year degree is required. Graduate degree in public policy, law, health policy, health care administration, public administration, political science, or related field preferred. One to two years minimum progressively responsible work experience in public policy or policy development is highly desired. Policy experience at the federal, state, or healthcare organization level is preferred. Experience in transplantation, healthcare, or health research is valued. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required. Quality writing skill required. Excellent project management skills are required. Computer proficiency is also required with a particular competency using Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, SharePoint, and Live Meeting. Some overnight travel required."

Five days remain for 2012 youth program applications

Only five days remain before the March 5 application deadline for the 2012 College Leaders and High School Leaders programs, and we still could use your help in finding a qualified applicant or two. 

Monday, March 5, at 5 p.m., is the deadline for applications to the 2012 CLP and HSLP. The caliber of this year's applicants is high and we are working to find more. You can help us find highly qualified students for both programs from all across Virginia. The interview process begins in 10 regions of Virginia on March 19 and concludes March 31. If you know any students between the ages of 16 and 24 who you think would be both interested in and would be a good candidate for one of the programs, please forward the information below to them and share it with others who could identify these students. I appreciate your help in seeking out and finding top Virginia students with a passion for leadership and public service.

The Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership
2012 College and High School Leaders Programs
Application deadline Approaching March 5th!

The Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership is a non-partisan organization dedicated to improving political leadership throughout Virginia.  The Sorensen Institute's High School and College Leaders Programs offer advanced, concentrated study in state and local politics, gaining hands-on training in politics, acquiring the information necessary to discuss Virginia politics and the skills to make a difference.

Students in the Sorensen Institute programs engage in substantive debate about challenges facing the Commonwealth.  Students have the opportunity to learn key advocacy skills such as lobbying, fundraising, opinion writing, media and more.   Students interact with Virginia's current public, private, and nonprofitleaders. Past speakers have included U.S. Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner, Governor Bob McDonnell, Governor Tim Kaine, members of  the General Assembly, Congressional leaders and other policy makers from around Virginia.

The College Leaders Program will take place from May 26 - June 23, 2012 and will include up to 30 student leaders from across the state. Cost of the College Leaders Program is $2,250, which includes all room and board, and scholarships and financial aid are available. Read more at: www.sorenseninstitute.org/programs/clp

The High School Leaders Program takes place from July 7 - 21, 2012 and will include up to 30 student leaders from across the state that are at least rising juniors or 16 years old by the program start date. Students will receive three undergraduate credits from the University of Virginia for their participation. The cost of the High School Leaders Program is $1,625, which includes all room, board and UVA tuition, and scholarships and financial aid are available.  Read more at: www.sorenseninstitute.org/programs/hslp

The College and High School Leaders Programs applicant pool is evaluated to create a highly qualified and diverse class. Participants will be chosen from among all academic majors and backgrounds. Scholarships for program tuition are available and potential applicants are strongly urged to apply regardless of financial concerns.
